Congratulations to the GHS Robotics Team

Congratulations to the GHS Robotics Team Thumbnail Image
A huge congratulations to First Robotics Team 172, the Northern Force, for an incredible 2024 season to date! Our students' dedication and hard work have not only secured them the 26th position at this week's New England District Championships but also led them to recent competition victories! At this past weekend’s UNH District Event, they snagged both the District FIRST Impact Award, the highest award a team can achieve in the league, and they became a District Competition Winner. But that's not all! The Northern Force shattered a 27-year streak, the second-longest in FRC history, without a District Winner Banner! This year’s robot is ranked in the top 25% world-wide according to Statbotics.io heading into the five-day NE championships. Important Information about the FAFSA

Seniors who are planning to attend college next fall should complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA as soon as possible if they haven't already done so. Although there have been challenges with the new FAFSA this winter, it is still the primary application for financial aid. Students who are planning to attend a Maine Community College through the Free Tuition at Maine Community Colleges Program, MUST complete the FAFSA to qualify for free tuition. Please see the resources below for more updates on FAFSA processing and for helpful information sessions offered by Maine's higher education agency, Finance Authority of Maine (FAME).

Big Brothers / Big Sisters

Are you looking for ways to get community service hours? Do you enjoy working with elementary age students? If so, please consider being a volunteer with the Big Brother/Big Sister program. This program matches Gorham High School students with elementary age students in our Gorham elementary schools. You would meet with your "match" at the elementary school where you can do activities such as play on the playground or play board games etc. The Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization would train you before you began and they ask you commit to at least one hour a week.
If you are interested, reach out to Ms. Stevens in the guidance office for more information.

School Social Worker Appreciation Week! Thumbnail Image
Join us in celebrating our three school workers -- Cynthia Collins, Claudine Emerson, and Emily Ryan -- during this week's School Social Worker Appreciation Week. In the words of Dr. Terriyln Rivers-Cannon, “In the tapestry of education, school social workers are the threads of compassion, weaving empathy, support, and understanding into the fabric of students' lives."
